Volunteer forces are better than drafted forces. As long as the military is having no problems meeting it's quotas, then there is absolutely no reason for a draft.

i agree with you n2sooners...having drafted forces creates so many more problems that the gov. and everyone has to deal with. and a lot of gov. officals have children in the military, and they themselves have fought in battle...it doesn't change a thing

Countries like Israel require it. It strengthens people's involvement in their country.

On this, I support a draft. Let all Americans, whatever their background, learn the necessity of defending and protecting this Country. They live here and enjoy it's privileges and benefits....so be a part of it's armed forces.

From a different angle, I believe that the United States is going to suffer some severe attacks in the future. Do you want your young, adult children prepared and trained? I do. I don't want them to be fodder for any enemy that invades or threatens our/their homeland. Have them all equipped to defend and knowledgeable in how to do that. Look around. Can you imagine our youths of today defending our Country against foreign aggression? Maybe a few.

Exactly how many people in all branches of the federal government have children serving in Iraq?
