I agree with most of this list, the rest I have no opinion because I haven't read the books. My curiosity has been piqued enough to read them and found out. Read the article to learn beyond the summaries why these books (and by extension, their authors) are considered to be so harmful.

Interesting clip Zizzy. It seems Mead was a brilliant person who tended to take things a bit too seriously.

Interesting list, very partial though.
If the Manifesto of the communist party is there, I would argue the Bible should be here too, as a key influence in the crusades, the inquisition, and the near-condemnation of Galileo. And seriously, the Manifesto is worse than Mein Kampf?
Also IMHO "The Prince" is a great book and a fundamental text in the history of politics, and the fact that it was on Stalin's reading list does not suffice to make it evil. It's a great "how to" book, which can be used by any politician, for good or evil.

Yes, let the book burning begin. The problem are not these books, is how the philosophies and thoughts are employed. In fact I encourage everybody read each and everyone of them and judge for yourself.

If nothing else, books like the Protocols and Mein Kampf teach us of how violent ideologies are created and expanded. Helps us see them for what they are and fight them when they raise their ugly heads.

Socratoad, I've been thinking the same thing about Ayn Rand's writings. I'd also add The Bible, as well as The Turner Diaries, and An Essay on the Inequality of the Human Races by Joseph Arthur Comte de Gobineau.

The CM should not be on the list.

Ratilfar I agree with you up to a point. MK and Protocols are more often than not read as though they are truths. - and that is where the danger lies. The ideologies expressed are harmful: 20M dead from MK alone and there are people in the world who would follow Hilter's blueprint if they had the chance. Even so, I wouldn't ban or burn those books.

As I commented in Willie's clip about the same book...

Did someone happen to mention his omission of The Bible, The Koran, and The Bhagavad Gita?
Yes, I suppose I am a heathen and a radical.
