Click the url. If you are an American, this will speak to you. If you are someone who has benefited from someone who has helped your Country, then you might appreciate this. Or if you recognize that "greater love has no man than he who gives his life for a friend"....you will be touched by this clip.

I know I can be gushy; but this is JUST me! I love it.

That's great, Jatfla. I try to say thanks to them all. I find it is easier when I see them in groups than individually. This should go for police and firemen as well.

Just a suggestion. I don't say this for recognition but to pass on an idea I think is great.

One day there was police car behind me at a Starbuck's drive-thru. When I picked up my order and paid for it I also paid for the order of the cop behind me. I felt so good about it that I continue to do it for complete strangers about once a month or whenever the urge strikes. It is great feeling and I imagine it really can give someone a boost of positivity.

I would give this all my pops if I could, jatfla. I think gratitude benefits everyone, it humanizes us. It certainly is important to express gratitude to the many faceless people that protect us every day. It is also important to express gratitude for the little things.

We start off teaching our kids to say "please" and "thank you" and then abandon those practices as adults. Our growing sense of entitlement is slaughtering our gratitude.

Yesterday I watched as a man became so angry when his doughnut order was wrong. "Why would you sell me the wrong thing?!" he kept yelling. The manager kept apologizing for his mistake and refunded the money, but it did not satisfy this man'...

Wonderful clip! I've been thanking every one of the troops I've run into. The last one was in McD's. My husband told me to leave the man alone, let him eat. I tried not to stare at him, but wanted to thank him. He finally looked up at me. I mouthed thank you and smiled. I thought he was going to cry. He thanked me and smiled. The hand signal is a great idea.

Last month I met a VN vet. When I thanked him, he got choked up and said nobody says that to them. He told me how badly they were treated when they came home. I told him we didn't understand what they were doing. He said they didn't either, but it would've been nice to have come home to a grateful nation. They all deserve better from us.

Thank you for your great responses. I knew you all would like it.

BNM...I'm the same way about gratitude and the importance of teaching it to our children. I must confess that realizing that the world doesn't revolve around me has been a life-time effort...and boy! was it a shock to realize that it didn't!! :~)

I know dorine. Usually my thinking is like your husbands and I don't want to embarrass anyone; including myself. But this clip really touched me and seemed more appropriate during our Christmas season.

Yesterday I saw a woman whom I had met last year right after she had returned from Iraq. Last year her mouth was wired shut while recuperating from injuries she had suffered in an attack. She remembered me as well. She is one of the most energetic, positive, jovial people I've ever met. We are blessed to have people like her serving our country!

I was honored to have travelled, lived with, and worked alongside our military in Iraq. Our group left Ft. Bliss on a C17 in Feb '04 and our flight consisted of several civilians along with a plane load of soldiers. We stopped briefly in Bangor, Maine for refueling. We deboarded the plane on the tarmac and were lead into the terminal through a non public entrance. Once we reached the main terminal area we were greeted by many VFW volunteers and their spouses. They had treats and coffee and actually made an effort to shake each and everyone of our hands telling us, thank you.

We civilians informed them that we were not military but just flying over with them but it didn't make a di...
