Great hearts, we all feel alike.

This song meant so much to us 70's kids. It may have been about a Rock and Roller of an earlier generation (Buddy Holly) but it spoke to us loud and clear. Ahh to go back to that time. For just one day, or night...

Why bookwormy, You touch my heart. I was a 70's kid too and yes, that song did mean so much to us. A lot of good songs came out of the 70's. A few of them defined who we were, and this is one of them. I think what made us different is that at an earlier age, we had learned and experienced that we were indeed "mortal".

Yes chestnut. And then our decade ended on Dec. 8 1980 when John Lennon was shot and killed in NYC. I lost my youth and "innocence" when that happened. I'd like to share how that effected me. go here;

bookwormy, I like your style. I really got a sense of that disbelief in your poem. Even though everyone was talking about it when you went out, it was still hard to believe. It's odd how many similar events like that happened to us. The hope and promise that you saw in John Lennon, I saw in Bobby Kennedy. It got so that one got up everyday wondering what to expect.
