I, too, find it amazing. I can't imagine electing a president whose willingness to lie for personal gain was this evident. I've always carried it as a mark of shame that McCarthy was from Wisconsin. I hope there are Alaskans who understand the emotion. I'll second you on that, BB. Although he was gone from the scene, having died just a couple months after I was born, his stench lingered on. I'm thankful that we have had some solid progressive politicians like Robert LaFollette, William Proxmire and Russ Fingold to make up for it. It's been amazing, the politics this year; as in amazingly nauseating. In both the US and Canadian federal elections, candidates and parties are resorting to outright lies more and more to try to smear their opponents. Does anyone remember when John McCain said that he would take the high ground in his political campaign, and not resort to negative campaigning in the race for president. Whups! Looks like the senile old bat forgot that promise, too. A year ago, I respected John McCain. Now, I get sick to the stomach every time I hear about him. Why isn't he reigning in Palin? Why is he flip-flopping on every political and moral stand he formerly stood for? Why? Because he's the kind of man... |
