It exists in the universe so it IS part of the universe. But what part?
Is it quantum?
It resembles a brain but does the internet truly think? Is it an entity.
I see the internet as a conglomeration of human thoughts being activated by keystrokes and mouse clicks. The internet is the sum of human brains being thrown together in a medium. A great encyclopedia of the human mind worldwide. Facts, conjecture, fantasies and creations all mixed into a superhighway of the human condition.

I see the internet as a conglomeration of human thoughts being activated by keystrokes and mouse clicks. The internet is the sum of human brains being thrown together in a medium. It is an evolution of the human species. When the next great human evolution happens hopefully we will be wise enough to recognise it.
No other lifeform that we are aware of has developed a method to combine their thoughts, wisdom, experiences and fears.
Perhaps it is the closest we can get to telepathy as we can achieve right now. Or perhaps we are behind the rest of the animal world...time will tell.

Idea exchange and processing has never had such a proliferation and kick start. Expecting static evaluation to be relevant in such a roiling environment of interacting abilities does not impress me as astute.
I'd like to hear more about these 'conceptual errors.' Thinking big is much more likely to come up with foresight of possibilities than reflex retreat to our imperfect models of 'reality'.

Nevertheless, the point about analysis of what are rightly recognised as complex systems depending upon the complexity of the analysing system is a good one, and certainly development of understanding and exploiting such complex systems as the internet is to be appreciated, and our own mental complexity (mind) will evolve, has already evolved, beyond its 'traditional' modes.
