I thought Clinton commuted a bus-load of incorrigibles at the end of his term. I'm no fan of Bush but I want everyone to play fair.

Well it wasn't fair for him to do it, why should we reward present of future malfeasance based on past bad behavior. Yeah, the next time the catch a drug dealer, he can say "well my neighbor also sells and he got away with it".

Spinmonkey - Clinton might have, but that doesn't excuse Bush doing it. The "right" certainly made their feelings known about Clinton during his Presidency and even managed to get him Impeached (just not convicted) - so there's no reason for us to not try to make use of the same tool against Bush - ESPECIALLY since Bush's wrongs are so much more egregious than any of Clinton's.

Bush "wrote" in his autobiography, A Charge To Keep, "I don't believe my role is to replace the verdict of a jury with my own."

But what would you expect from the Hypocrite in Chief.

I have signed so many petitions as of late that I can barely keep track of them. Last I heard the Impeach Cheney petition had over 75,000 signatures at either the Pen or Move On.org.. But this is to impeach both so I will sign that also.

I thought that there were investigations into Clintons activities, but I didn't think he got impeached. Did I miss something?

Clinton was impeached. Impeachment is just the process by which charges are brought against a leader, similar to an indictment in a normal criminal proceeding. Impeachment doesn't mean removal from office; that's the next step in the process if the impeachment process warrants it.

This idea of even talking about Clinton as if this is relevant or exonerates the last six years of Bush is pathetic.

The Clinton that bugs me now is Hillary. At first she refused to answer the question about a pardon for Libby when asked at debate hosted by Cris Matthews/Hardball.

Now she's telling us how she'll handle things better in a year and a half. !! Ugh! I want her to DO SOMETHING! now.

And the thing to do, a real appropriate and powerful thing to do is to IMPEACH CHENEY. Court testimony from the Libby trial gave evidence that he's the guy behind all this. So he should be impeached just to demand he come before the public and be obliged to tell the truth.

All the Democratic's rea...

All this shouting about IMPEACH ! IMPEACH !IMPEACH !

Don't you think some cocky lawyers would have figured it out by now and actually jumped on board already? Or some presidential candidate who wanted to make a name for themselves? Those kinds of people live for those moments.

Sooo.... where are they all? If they are all so right about having the goods on Bush and Cheney what are they waiting for? What are they afraid of? Obviously something. Wars may be expensive, but talk is cheap.

This is an Absolute JOKE. Clinton "Pardoned" Criminals & Terrorists that committed crimes against this country.Bush has Only commuted Libby's sentence and this man Did no wrong and Broke no laws. I say Leave the poor man ,Libby,alone..And for those of you that say bush is a whole lot worse Prez then Clinton. Grow Up, At Least Bush has the balls to defend this Country, Unlike the Cowardly Clinton. Clinton will definitely go down as the Worse President This Country has ever seen.Actually Clinton and Carter Are neck and neck for that Prize. You Lib's Will never get it.

Oh, nappy....
Simmer down. LOL All it would take to impeach is a few folks with an agenda. That was proved with Clinton. I'm not a huge Clinton fan (either one), but I really didn't think a few consensual blow jobs were a reason for impeachment.
Now, I'll get shot down from both right and left for this one, but if a
blowjob was an impeachable offense, why wasn't JFK impeached? Because
we were more tolerant of sexuality, and this country was more sexist
then. It was pretty much accepted and understood that men cheat.
Neither was the good ol' lie. The stupid rhetoric I hear bandied about that "it wasn't the sex, it was the lie" doesn't hold any more water than a paper bag, eith...

Even the staunchest Bush supporter can find numerous examples of his lies, regardless of BS justifications.
When they lie to a Grand Jury, Thorny...maybe then I will get on board the impeachment bandwagon. I won't even go down the mysterious Rose Law Firm billing records road, etc. This does however deserve an "impeachment lunacy pop".

President Bush can commute any sentence he wishes, and grant any pardons he wishes to any individual he wishes without legal consequence. In no way shape or form in any reality where the constitution is in its current form is exersising his constitutionally granted powers "high crimes and misdemeanors."

But Libby did lie to a Grand Jury, did he not? And just because you have a power does not mean that you should abuse it. I think its time to reign in the pardon power(s) don't you think? Just because you can do a thing does not make it right, now does it?

"But Libby did lie to a Grand Jury, did he not?"
So a jury said. Hence why presidents have a power to pardon, or commute. Duh right?

"I think its time to reign in the pardon power(s) don't you think?"

No.

"And just because you have a power does not mean that you should abuse it."

Objective.

"Just because you can do a thing does not make it right, now does it?"

Nope.

So his judgment should override a jury's judgment? We are not talking about jury that was unbalanced in anyway shape or form, a simple jury of his peers found him guilty, if that is not enough then the President should pardon anyone convicted of any crime for any reason, with justification what so ever. That to me a recipe for abuse and disaster.

As for reigning in the pardon power, it would appear that your on the column that the President should have more power(s) not less. That may be something that you and a lot of people may come to regret, when the shoe is on the other foot.

As for your one word answer of "Objective" that I don't get...

And your final answer invalidates all the answ...

"So his judgment should override a jury's judgment? We are not talking about jury that was unbalanced in anyway shape or form, a simple jury of his peers found him guilty"

It does override the jury's judgement, and the constitution was set up that way. That power was given to the President from day one, and it never required nor suggested the need for the possibility that the jury was biased or wrong. As a matter of fact the framers made most of their arguments for this power under the assumption the jury was correct.

"if that is not enough then the President should pardon anyone convicted of any crime for any reason, with justification what so ever."

What a ridiculous arguement. S...
