debbyski says: "As a possible first Madame President, Hillary is a flawed science experiment because you can’t take Bill out of the equation. Her story is wrapped up in her marriage, and her marriage is wrapped up in a series of unappetizing compromises, arrangements and dependencies." This is not about gender. Billary knows what she is doing, as they say "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen". I cannot feel empathy for her, since gender is all we have in common. I cannot recall a time in my life when I personally felt discriminated against because I am female. Have you ever felt sexism Kappy? Seriously, no boy ever said you weren't good enough because "you're just a girl!"? If I had a dollar for every time... Sexism can be overt or very subtle. I remember my male high school counselor advising me to go into secretarial studies instead of geology even though I was an honor student. I've been stopped and asked for directions and ignored when another male approached with more "manly" directions. I am working a typically male oriented job right now and I experienced astonishment that a "woman" can do this job at first, but now I get respect. I completely agree. She'd have never been in this position without her husband. would like to see a woman get there entirely on her own. And re the manly job, I work in medicine and at least once per day I have to say "No i am not a nurse!" because girls apparently arent allowed to go to med school. pop for all ladies! I cannot recall a time in my life when I personally felt discriminated against because I am female.Wow, kappy!! I feel it every day!! I'm blonde. I was all set to vote for a feminine person to be president, but Rudy Guliani dropped out of the race. Have you ever felt sexism Kappy?I've experienced sexual harassment. Maybe I have felt sexism, but I guess it never bothered me to the degree that any event jumps out in my memory. Politicians sling mud - that's what they do - since I quit listening to all of them since Kucinich dropped out, I don't know who says what. But I am sure there are unflattering comments made about the male candidates. That is the nature of politics. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Discrimination against women? Women have to walk behind the husband Woman have to cover their faces Woman having their clitoris mutilated Women sold at auctions as slaves ~~~Need I go on? JMHO sometimes in local elections when the candidates for alderman or the like are unknown to me, i simply vote against the incumbent, and if i still have a choice, will vote for a woman. my thinking being that there is less chance of "her" being one of "the good ol' boys". as far as i can tell, hillary is one of the "good ol' 'boys'" and sexism? women have been treated like shit from day one to the present moment. the human race has had to get by with 50% of our collective brain power corked. worse. males are so stubborn that it is likely when a female offers a solution to a problem, the male will avoid the suggested path at all costs. women, i am so sorry. For much of my working life, I have been in a field in which women dominate the managerial ranks and also form a significant part of the rank and file - moreso than in many other professions. I observed a number of situations in which women in authority took every opportunity to stick it to the men under their supervision. There was a time when I agreed with papadavid's approach to voting for an unknown candidate, but I've seen too many instances of good ol' gals to stick to that. A lot of women ran for local offices (especially school boards) as part of a scheme by the members of the religious right to capture elections from the bottom up by hiding their religious affiliation until af... |
