So now, all of a sudden, it is time to look at someone's political record, religion, accomplishments, and personal habits? All off limits of course when we discuss the Dems. Let the smear campaign begin. Let's tear down all the Republicans and all the Dems. Regardless of the facts. The guy hasn't even formally announced his candidacy and people want to rip him apart.

Funny that they would talk bad about Fred's political experience when he has accomplished much more than all three of the democrat front runners.

Just out of curiosity, what has "Fred" accomplished?

And Willhelm, whoever said that political experience, accomplishments, and personal habits (laziness) were out of bounds as critieria to judge a candidate? Religion certainly is not a criteria, but that's not what Kevin Drum (the author of the source material) is saying. He is just saying that being a good Christian is important to the Republican base and will be an impediment to Thompson winning the Republican primary. He may be right or wrong, but that is certainly different from saying "Thompson's lack of religion will make him a bad president".

It isn't so much that he is an accomplished politician, but that neither are the democrat front runners and no one questions them on experience.

What I find so funny about this clip and comments is that we are talking about Fred Thompson's "experience" and calling him a joke, while leaving out the context of Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, and Barrack Obama. Also, the fact that the left is in such a frenzy they want to put this stuff out about a man that has not even announced he is running.

Funny how Republicans hate "those Hollywood types" unless those Hollywood actors start talking their lingo, then its A-Ok!

Fred Thompson is hardly a "Hollywood type". Just because you're in a few movies and television shows does not mean your the " Hollywood type". The guy lives in Tennessee for goodness sake.

Hollywood is not a place, its a state of mind. You can be Hollywood in Cali, New York or in Hong Kong. Half the "stars" in Hollywood, live in places like Montana and Texas, does that make them more or less Hollywood? Ronald Reagan was born in Illinois, but was a shoe in for the Studio system and became the governor of California, the current governor came from Austria.

You are right. Hollywood is a state of mind, and Fred just isn't in that state of mind.

And your proof is? Again, is interesting how some people loath Hollywood stars and celebrities and say that they should keep their mouth shuts until that personality starts saying the things they want to hear, after that is an unending honeymoon from here on end....
