Nice use of your brain people. The record gas prices are because they CAN. No regs, no taxes, no accountability, no stopping them. Even Nixon put the skids on "record" gas prices and inflation back in the '70's and he was an idiot just like Bush, only smarter, until he got caught and congress ran him out of town. Now as far as oil prices are concerned someone somewhere seems to think they can get that price for the gas which mooner well pointed out. So then folks it is economics 101 supply and demand if the supply goes up and the demand goes down the prices will then most logically fall. If the supply goes down while demand remains steady or increases then the reverse is also true the prices will go up! Now as far as what can the government do to help lower gas prices for starter than can take off the NATIONAL GAS Tax which amounts to about .30 a gallon and the states could do the same, but if they do that then they will most likely look somewhere else to tax something to make up the money.

No 2 the government could get out of the way of private enterprise and repeal the capital gains tax so that people with money to invest would be willing to do so. In a free market society such as ours the less government intervention the better business climate for which invention and ingenuity thrive. The bible says do not muzzle the ox that treds out the corn, in other words do not hinder business from doing what business does make profits to reinvest and invent new things for people to buy.

No 3 the government can tell the greenies to go eat sea weed and build nuclear power plants, drill for domestic oil, and build more refineries.

Point of fact Bush does not enact law congress does except in rare occassions when the Supreme court does.

I bought compact flouresent bulbs until I found out it actually made more of a carbon footprint to produce those little energy saving bulbs then the old incandenscents did so I switched back.

Here is a place to start. How about we close all airports and forbid anyone to fly for about 6 months. No more political junckets no more celebrity flights and hollywood gad abouts flitting off to who knows where burning much more fuel then my old van will use in years. The firs...

The first place I think we need to stop sending airplanes is the middle east if people from there want to come here let them burn their own fuel.

Alternate fuel sorces are available for instance Centia is 100% green, uses no petrolemum-derived products, does not effect the food supply like ethanol does because it is produced from animal fat which we produce by one and a half billion gallons annually here in the states.
