I have a few tattoos but none of them are visible in a dress shirt (two small ones on my wrist though). So far hasn't hurt me but I wonder if it is the one on his neck that really does it. Otherwise they would all be covered up.

That's a sad story. However, I can't help but wonder if there were other factors involved.
I have two myself: a bracelet of red hearts and blue stars on my forearm, and a heart on my ankle. They're not too big or obnoxious, but they're definitely visible. I have never had a problem finding a job as a math teacher, but then again, math and science teachers are in short supply everywhere.
