They had all those awful fires and now their purple river is poison. I wonder if the purple river could have put out the fires OR would its contaminants add fuel? There is a nearby river to our house that we use to inner-tube down as kids. We had whole family events of simply starting in one town and floating clear down until passing a shopping mall in another. I recall several trips that were so fun on those hot summer days. We even had special spots along the way the provided various activities. It wasn't overly deep or overly swift. Just a nice lazy ride on a hot day with a few special stops along the way. One point it got very shallow, but the incline of the riverbed was steeper and the rocks where flat and slimy. It was a fast ride down and we'd often stop and climb back up for a few passes.
