Yep, those ignorant knuckle dragging conservative are just sooooo stooopid! Let's not use natural resources that are proven, efficient and cost effective...and pretty damned clean when compared to even 10 years ago. I don't think that the US drillling for it's own resources would be music to the Saudi's ears...more supply =less income for the Saudis.

Yes, the Drilling is to be done Here...not there. I don't think that will make the Saudis all that happy. And if we do it right...drilling, wind, nuclear, etc... and can actually begin to export...Whoa! The price of their oil would really drop.

US supply is so dinky that every year the US remains primarily focused on oil production is a year that pledges continued need of the big boys of oil. When the US goes all out to develop new resources, rather than focusing itself on developing resources not sufficient to change much that tie us to out-dated technology, the Saudis will know the end of their era is at hand.
We're kidding ourselves until then.

University of Michigan's Juan Cole:
Effects of drilling on US oil supply

'Course McCain himself famously said the effect of his proposal would be mostly "pyschological."
