To have so much money that one pays thousands for a pocketbook? such waste. as they learn it can't buy happiness, they compete with each other over expensive possessions.
I'd rather be me.

I have thanked my parents repeatedly for not instilling the "keep up with the joneses" in me. I am grateful that I never felt that my possessions defined me or improved my value as a person.

As a parent, I know how easy it can be to satisfy my child's wants with material things, and how hard it can be to teach her that happiness is not bought, but rather created within one's own mind and heart.
