I've had chickadee's eat out of my hand before. It's the greatest experience. You just have to be patient and stand very, very still.

Yes, I've trained swans not to bite while hand feeding but never close to St. Francis.

Only about 10 or 15 seconds, but they'll come back and get more. I don't think poor Francis is a saint anymore. I think the Ecumenical Council gave him the boot. I hope it wasn't because word got out that you didn't have to be a saint to have birds eat out of your hand.
