This is a huge event!!!! Man, if the Senate passes this i can't wait to see Bush stand and up and veto it. Scary thing is that he probably will...but at least he'd have to be on the record as standing in the way of our adoption of non-oil based energy.

Such blind partisan hatred. I just cannot for the life of me understand how anyone can be so uninformed on this issue.

Partisan hatred? Please. I'm a big proponent of embracing alternative sources of energy and i like the idea of moving money from oil companies to investment in new sources of energy. Nothing i said is partisan at all. Bush has said he will veto this bill. I think that's wrong.

How is anything egoldstein said blind, partisan, or hatred? I've seen you (wilhelm) leave a number of posts on message boards today with no substantive arguments. Just accusations against posters who are actually saying something. Why don't you make an argument about the issue at hand, and let's discuss it.

The oil companies themselves are trying to find ways of producing alternatives. They can read the handwriting. The President isn't against alternatives; he's against taxing those who have the best opportunities, the $$$, and the incentives for research and exploration. The problem is that everyone finds a reason NOT to try something new....so we are stagnant and seek to kill the goose that lays the golden egg.

No one is against the options of wind, solar, nuclear, water, coal, etc..... Let the free market go!!!

Well, #1 - You're not "moving money". You are advocating TAKING money.

#2. General Electric is the # 1 source of Lobbyist money in government. In fact they contribute more tahn ALL OIL COMPANIES combined. They are in the midst of a propaganda campaign you seemed to have bought hook, line, and sinker. They own all of Enron's wind and solar assets. These are futile as far as being alternative energy. If you have ever been a customer of solar power, you would know that.

# 3 The environmental alarmism that blames "Big Oil" are based in ignorance and lies.

#4 I am for the development of alternative source, but you do not seem to understand the economics at play here. We will never be able to ...

Belugah - As for substantive arguments - that is all I do. Reading a couple of comments in light of the fact that I have made thousands proves you are the one that likes to make comments without substance.

By the way EG, I was speaking generally. Not at you specifically.
