Great cartoon. I immediately added it on my website's editorial page this week and realized I needed to add links to encourage Action....starting with the basic first steps of sending out a few emails to Congressional leaders.

It's not that such emails change the word but if these folks in Congress never hear from us or only hear from right-wing fanatics (as they do) or only hear from corporate big buck lobbyist (as they do) well, then that is what they think the people think...so they need to have us also spell it out for them and express our views to them as well.

In this case, more than most, the chances are good that an investigation by Congress will be started, esp. if I and the tens of thousands of others who do so keep phoning and sending emails and in fact I'm going to my Congress person's office this week. I already wrote to her about this two weeks ago -- before these now infamous Torture Memos -- and she ducked the issue.

The first thing Congress people want to do, btw, is ignore an issue, send people down dead end streets, stonewall them, or run people around in circles.

So it ain't easy breaking on through. But this issue has a chance, I believe because I've already heard some political Congressinal leaders express views similar to mine (and yours, I think)...so with a little more encouragement to make an investigation happen something could develop.

But what will that something be? Thus I think it's valuable to push for real actions, not just a charade or dog & pony show, and I think it's critical that we go after the leaders and those in authority who authorized these programs: Dick Cheney (and others) are the ones who belong in jail and not just the thugs they hired to do their dirty work.

We got to cut off the head of the snake to kill it.
