Considering that half of Jerusalem was conquered during the 67 war and therefore not part of the original U.N. mandate for Israel, it is a valid point.

Or we could say that Israel took back what was "conquered" from them by Rome in 70AD.

Not Rome, but Alexander the Great, scratch that the Persians before him. Rome did not "conquer" since Judea was a province of the Roman Empire. They merely squashed a rebellion there. And by your own logic, conquest confers no rights, either in 70 AD or in 1963 AD.

Yeah and Alexander rolled over the place and conquered them, then left it to one of his generals who founded the Selucid line of kings, and then passed into Roman control. Again, conquest gives no rights.
