It reminds me of something I saw (I can't quote a reference) One of the most frequently used passwords is
"password" Hit enough security with a popular password, and there are bound to be enough strikes to make a profit.
With volume sales and accounts, you win some and lose some. The odds mean most of the time it seems like it's happening to other people. The biggest worry with hacking, isn't the theft of property, it is the theft of identity.

Several years ago I was doing some work for a defense contractor and on a lark went in to the super secret, emissions controlled, copper-lined room and entered "program" for a user, and "manager" for the password to this computer that was supposed to be unbelievably secure, and the next thing that popped up on the screen was the message "Welcome Super.Super $"

I logged out and told my boss about it and his reaction was not, "Oh my god, we're all going to jail." Instead it was, "You know VMS? You're our new system manager."

My brother passed away last year and the family couldn't access his computer... until I typed in NONE. Go figure.
