Rose lead the reader to believe all the blacks in Columbus, GA live below Macon Road and all the whites live north of it -- still. That is not true. And his superior European attitude about the US's way of dealing with our criminals is your typical "look down your nose" type. As for the story of Gary - consider Mr. Rose is an advocate against the death penalty and believes that the oppression of the "black man" still goes on in the 'evil' south to this day. And eventually he ended up on Gary's legal team. I disagree with you on the grounds that I too know some of the people from the PD that were involved in this case, as well as the fact that a young man who was the son of a local well-known personality that was suspected of the crimes (but that was dropped real quick), never to be mentioned again. I was born in Columbus, Ga. I lived there for 35 years of my life. I have spent the last 15 years as far away as I could possibly get from this horrible place. I personally know that Columbus, GA is a town that, to this very day, maintains a refuge for a certain "local all-white elites" & that place is known by the title of "The Big Eddy Club".
