mugofcoffee says: highly interesting.. How funny! Popular songs: "Mule Train" and "Riders in the Sky". Boy, were things different then! Thanks mug for a little fun. What fun! Gas 21¢ a gallon, bread 9¢ a loaf, milk 62¢ a gallon, car $1225 and house $8649. But not much money to be had, rationing I think was still in effect as it was World War II. amazing, isn't it? Even in high school and college I was a fan of "The Big Band" sound from that time when I was born, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra got his start, Harry James, Gene Krupa, Lionel Hampton. "Take the A Train," "Misty," "In the Mood," "Tuxedo Junction," I could go on & on. What's funny, is that the most popular song the year I was born was "Mairzy Doats." A nonsense song! |
