Abbas has ruled out restarting those talks until Netanyahu, whose right-leaning government took office on March 31, commits to a two-state solution and halts settlement expansion.

Netanyahu has so far balked at committing to entering negotiations with the Palestinians on territorial issues.

A senior Israeli official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Netanyahu's government hoped to sidestep U.S. pressure by committing to uproot smaller hilltop outposts built without official authorisation, a step also set by the road map.

"Moving on outposts is relatively easy" compared to freezing growth of larger settlements, which Israel wants to keep as part of any future peace deal, the Israeli official said.

Last week, Israel flattened a small outpost near the West Bank city of Ramallah, but residents returned to rebuild.

With the limited knowledge I have of this, I'd say a 2-state goal is the way. Ultimately Israel gains "credibility" (as is possible) and when they continue to fire on and attack Israel, Palestine - AS A STATE - could be dealt with. Of course, they would still be attacking as non-state actors so it would still be messy. I don't know.
I think they need to pull within 1948 ('47?) borders and have more basis for their argument in the court of world opinion. I don't think that means continuing to give ground or undue concessions.

It is a bit strange to read that Palestinians attack Israel, when the Palestinians are being attacked permanently by virtue of occupation, ethnic cleansing, genocide and a forced diaspora of its people.
Let us not forget the genesis of this problem: the creation of a state by terrorists with the willing and enthuthiastic support of the usual suspects. I know the devine real estate arguments and the propensity for devine choosing of a people over others, but seriously, can this excuse and justify the destruction of Palestine.
Perhaps we are not fully aware of the ultimate devine design for its people.

D-I-vine has nothing to do with it. The world - the U.N., whatever - created a nation called Israel. If you aren't happy about that then don't commit random mass murder on innocent people who only want to live their lives. Until you can convince the world of nations that the one called Israel does not deserve to exist it only makes common sense to stop supporting victimstance and motivate people to stop living in tents for multiple generations. Grow some self-esteem, live in a house, earn a living, and git yerself caught up to the present day. Face reality, then work to try to change it on a civilized basis. And if you are just some anglo that needs somewhere to express your gu...
