Let's forget market economy. Health care is something that (in my opinion) should definitely be excluded from capitalism's regular rules and laws. The state should give each citizen essential health care for free. I don't like the idea of thinking the concepts "health" and "profit" together.

The only arguments against you proposal I can think of is that if people do not have to pay for their health, they will tend to abuse the health system (e.g. go to the doctor for every little thing) and/or engage in risky behavior since they are somewhat insulated from the financial consequences of ill-health.

I think that these are manageable problems though. Maybe you can require some manageable co-payments to get peopel to take their health seriously. Through some tinkering I am confident we could get a system that provides good health care for all and is relatively affordable. People should not have to struggle to get health care services they need.

I agree Josh. There will be people who'll do their best to abuse "the holes" they found in thesystem but as you said, these are manageable. In Europe, there are very good examples of health care and health insurance (particularly in Switzerland).

I don't like to imagine a mother or father, hearing a hospital executive saying: "You must pay ...... dollars for the treatment/operation or your kid will die in a few months."

There is nothing more important than human health.
