The Infowarrior says: "Climate summit loophole lets palm oil producers cull vital wilderness" More @ Source. Palm oil is used in alot of things, and while it would be difficult to boycott, it would be a worthwhile effort in order to help save our planet's "lungs" as well as land that belongs to indigenous people. Also, I've heard that a fair amount of slave labor is used in palm oil production. So. Altogether, palm oil is not such a wonderful thing. And, as we already know, monoculture isn't either. In reality it would appear the Copenhagen Treaty is little more than a (very thinly) veiled grab for resources, money and yet more power. Only it gets worse than that. |
