It's damn important to go through this process now. Why? Because that will put the next president - whoever they are - on notice that we will not tolerate this, nor will we allow them to put the powers Bush illegally, immorally and unconstitutionally claimed in their pocket.

If we then knew what we know now what would - if anything - have changed this. That is way is frightening to me. They were so determined that being found out later didn't appear to have any breaking effect.

Watching BBC Panorama tonight talking about the amount of war profiteering and how whistleblowers are gagged, I concluded that war equalled money no matter who against. If Iraq hadn't become fiasco then half a dozen more invasions were on.

Impeachment proceedings - win, lose or draw - are very important. McCain could be another Bush!

McCain is certainly willing to be another Bush if that's what it takes. He's committed to staying "until we win" for a hundred years if needful.

How stupid do you have to pretend to be be to appeal to the Republican base?

Good comments - these Nixonian power grabs will come around again and again - and likely from both parties - until the Congress steps up and re-asserts the equality of executive and legislative branches. I see no other way to keep the nation from further debacles like the last eight years.
