Okay, I can understand what they are worried about, geographical isolation of gene pools can be bad. But isn't that how diversity originated? Is that not what caused evolution of various species (if you happen to believe in evolution)?

Damage the environment and harm wildlife... unfortunately a lot of Americans view the immigrants as wildlife.

I am all for "tracked immigration." Each Mexican stopping by an office on the way in and being assigned a work control number (for tracking, taxes, social security... similar to a SSN), or registering as a prospective citizen. Let them in, let them work legally, let them pay taxes like the rest of us proles.

It doesn't matter where your from nor the color of your skin, we are all proles in the end.

You're being totally unfair with countless folks from Africa, South America & Europe. They don't have the same entry ways. What makes Mexicans special in this case - their close proximity? Not if you treat everyone equal. And don't forget the bums you see by freeway entrances begging for jobs - those are your fellow Americans who are out on the street, and you want to let Mexicans come in, get a stamp and work just like that? Doesn't seem fair.

And the Mexican government, instead of worrying about the fence's impact - should be doing a MUCH better job in keeping their own people within their own borders. That would be much more productive than 'urging' US on what to do or not to do wh...

Mexicans WANT to work so bad they risk being arrested and or shot. Most other immigrants I've met hold to the same. They want to work. They want the American dream. I am not saying give preference to the Mexicans due to their proximity, the whole immigration system needs to be reworked.

We deny entry into the states based off of countries. Each country is allowed a certain number of immigrants to come over (some thing you should be familiar with).

The criteria for this number is based on a couple of different factors, the top two being weather or not we believe there can be a significant volume of trained labor originating from the country of origin, and the other being the predispo...

Note: I've been a bum... I've held down a job while homeless. It sucks like all hell, and it is hard as all hell because your average employer wants an address when you apply. Shower at the YMCA, eat at homeless shelters, steel from grocery stores (necessities only, its easier to deal with management when caught), make friends with the night shifts at fast food joints, bum enough money for a cheep bike from wal-mart (and a lock) for transportation. Eventually you can work your way up to a P.O. box, and a tent (find a place to lay your head that is sheltered). Own a good knife for protection.

Just maybe, you'll be able to dig your way out of the hole.

I did.

You're right, Rioting Drone - I AM familiar with the concept and we went through all the hoops and the tests and waiting periods and handholding by some selfless great people who helped us when we didn't speak a word. And as much as I didn't like some aspects of that - tough, these are the rules and if we wanted to come and live here - we MUST obide by them and we did.

I'm all for looking at the immigration laws, changing them in an appropriate, lawful manner. For example I think it's ridiculous that I, an American citizen, with a wife who is also one, had to fill out all kinds of paperwork to get her mother to come live with us and then it took a year to get her permission to work here...

From your description of your service and your tough life in the past - you sound like the guy who doesn't do pity. I'm not for a second trying to offer any therefore, but I do very much respect your ability to pull yourself back from the hole... it's just sad to me that people like yourself (i.e. ex-military) have to deal with these kinds of problems. Shouldn't be like that. I sincerely wish you all the best going forward!
