tpq62 says: Lied about it and got busted. GOOD It sounds to me like the students WERE in hell--in that classroom with that teacher! I'm glad the student documented the teacher's remarks. I am willing to bet the teacher and the school district get sued on this one. I know if I were a parent that I would be sueing! Yeah, that's it, everybody sue. Not enough that a wacky teacher is fired, let's stick it to the taxpayer for a new car, or nice vacation. Sue for WHAT exactly? The usual. He hurt my little baby boy's feelings. Wah. I think there's a little more to it "the usual". First - the teacher is trying to impose some ludicrous belief on the students. It is not the venue for doing such. His job is to teach history - not impose his zealous and ludicrous religous beliefs on the students. Considering the way he did this - sounds like it is psychological harm and not doing the job he was paid to do. Indeed, considering what people in the US can sue for, this actually makes sense. The parents would likely sue for emotional damages and to set precedent, so that any other nut-job "teachers" out there would think twice about doing again. Getting fired is not that much of a punishment, he can just go get a job in a school that may not disagree with his point of view now. But if he's sued, and they 9parents) win, then one might not be willing to take the chance. If the school administration (or any public agency) is asleep at the wheel or winking at stuff like this, a civil suit is a good way of teaching them to do their jobs. Fines, demotions, firings are the way to go. |
