sydneycat says: No religious test is required to serve in the U.S. Government. This *is* in the original Constitution. Also, the Constitution is a living document that should and has been adjusted to the changing needs of an evolving country. The founding fathers didn't grant suffrage rights to women, does Congressman Sali want to repeal that too? I'm not sure I want to know the answer to that. If the claim is made that the US was founded on christian principles, then it was the fear factor again being used to suppress people. The Founding Fathers (several of whom were more than likely atheists ) probably expected a prayer or two to keep the tea leaf readers happy. They probably couldn't foresee the changes but they may have banned the lot when political correctness took over. And, if we are going to be constantly referring to the constitution, where is it written that it is more important to build military rather than help people caught up in natural disasters? Anyone want to continue that list......... |
