This article makes me ill. Just what does he think women are? Did he not stop to think for even one minute that perhaps some women really have no choice but to terminate? Then there’s the issue of perhaps some damaged soul thinking its a free $500 and not even realizing the other consequences of the pregnancy. This is more devaluing (and demeaning) to the women and to the fetuses than an abortion could ever be. I can see his passion and what he thinks he’s doing but his ways are extremely insulting not to mention not very well thought out. Sometimes I’m proud to be a liberal.

This is absolutely insane!!!! I am pro choice.All women should have the right to decide what goes on with their bodies...especially since pregnancy is 9 months long.What if there are circumstances around the pregnancy...say for instance the woman was raped...should she carry a baby to term, which is very tiring...just for 500 dollars!!!!! The emotional and physical demands of pregnancy can not be measured in money.Women are not just incubators!!!! What if also a woman is using birth control and it fails and it is life threatening to carry a baby????? This issue is not just black or white.Not surprising that this suggestion comes from a man.

My idea: just make abortion cost more... 500$ is like nothing.

This proposal also does not take into account the lifelong damage that adoption can cause. Before you freak out, just read... I am adopted, and I am glad that I am. This does not change the fact that I have suffered from depression since I was an infant. Babies suffer the loss of their biological mothers the same way orphans do. The biological mother suffers either way... she suffers guilt if she terminates a pregnancy, but most people do not realize the guilt that mothers suffer when they place their child for adoption. This is not a black or white issue, except for the single point that it should be left to the woman to decide what happens with her body. End of story.
