For m-o-n-a, Defender of Octosquid:

Fear engenders criticism.

I can imagine myself falling into that greedy red 8-legged maw (even though it appears to be less than 1 foot wide), therefore I call it ugly.

just to clarify: i judged Octosquid's beauty purely by external looks. I won't deny that he is potentially dangerous. He is beautiful to me in the same way that I consider many "creepy crawlies" (including spiders) beautiful. Beautiful in the eyes of a photographer - perhaps foolish at times - but an adventurous one that has a soft spot for unusual wildlife & insects!
