According to the American political right-wing, government-guaranteed health care is good for Iraqis, but not good for us. They decry even a limited public option for us, but gleefully imposed upon the Iraqis what they label here as "socialism," with much Democratic Party member support.

We have (thus far) sacrificed more blood to wrest Iraq from tyranny than we lost on 9/11. And, the total money spent in military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan is more than the funding required to guarantee minimally decent health care for U.S. citizens.

The most senior members of the Republican establishment - and some Democrats like Max Baucus (D-MT) - have gladly spent more taxpayer funds to ensure health care as a Constitutional right in Iraq than they are willing to spend to give us any level of guaranteed coverage.

Can someone please explain why our government favors the health care of Iraqis over its own citizens?

My first thought is it’s because insurance companies don’t have the influence in Iraq that they do here in the U.S. Can anyone convince me I am wrong?

I suggest that every U. S. citizen find out if their Representative and/or Senators have supported or voted to fund the war in Iraq. If so, do they support health care as a civil right for you?

If the answers to those questions are "yes" and "no," respectively, you might consider less hypocritical representation.

Proper healthcare is one of those things that's for "Them", not "Us" (meaning Americans).

Americans are enslaved to the corporations, and lobbyists are doing their job in keeping the government from changing that.

Exactly. One of my biggest problems with government and corporations is the free exchange of money and power. The general public is seen only as a money source.

I would rather be viewed as "Just a vote", rather than as "Just a source of money". When I'm seen as just a vote, then I'm equal with everyone else in the country. When I'm seen as just a source of money, then I fall to the wayside in favour of people with a lot more money. A person's importance to large, life-affecting entity such as government or corporations shouldn't be contingent on how much money you have.

That is exactly why government is preferable, and more trustworthy than corporations. I want to live in a country, not in a corporate support colony.
