rustajb says: I never understood this logic. I mean, if you believe in the sheep-god, then surely you believe the sheep-god gave mankind the knowledge to heal. Healing is a positive thing right, so not likely of Satan. (Geez, trying to apply logic to Christianity is like trying to apply gauze to a porcupine.) So why avoid doctors? Ignorance can be fatal. When I was 14 and suffering from migraines my mother wanted me to go see a priest and get a "laying on of hands." I made it clear we should go see a doctor and I would have none of her medieval cures, that to me sounded about as good as passing a baby under a horse three times. It's just that in the past few weeks, there have been a bevy of news stories out there in this country that happened to feature wackos who happened to be religious doing things that happen to be totally bonkers nutjob crazy.I can definitely agree with this statement! The problem is, in this case, if the boy changed his mind while he was bedridden and wanted to seek medical treatment for his bronchial pneumonia, his protectors wouldn't have helped him.Sounds like a pretty big assumption in my opinion... but who knows. One more thing. Seriously, we're asking: is there a passage of the Bible that specifically mentions doctors, medical treatment, medicine a... No, there isn't. There are several places where Jesus says that doctors are for sick people, such as Mark 2:17. And there is this passage, which unfortunately is in the Apochrypha, which is of course apochyrphal to these people. Ecclesiasticus (or Sirach) 38:1-16 Hold the Physician in honor, for he is essential to you, and God it was who established his profession. From God the doctor has his wisdom, and the king provides tor his sustenance. His knowledge makes the doctor distinguished, and gives him access to those in authority. God makes the earth yield healing herbs which the prudent man should not neglect; Was not the water sweetened by a twig that men might learn his power? He e... Very nice. That's an excellent passage Silverstar98121. You've seriously piqued my interest in the Apochrypha, an area of Christianity that inhabits my blind spot. Seems I have some research to do. Dude if ur sick see the damn doc get ur drugs call it day ! Goodness WTF !! are people freakin retarded .....religion or no religion if you need help get it. |
