"Employed by God" made the boss exempt from taxes. That's really funny.

There is nothing in the bible that says God is employing you. All eligible taxes are applicable.

Kent Hovind is a wack job. He gets his history from the Flintstones.

Does it really matter, where we came from? It kind of pales in comparison with the problems with we have just with how we treat each other. We could have been shat out by a giant marshmallow man from space 300 years before I was born for all I care; what matters to me is that people this very minute are dreaming up methods and justifications for killing their fellow man.

It does matter when you get people making up creation stories, flavoring it with commandments and demands, and then trying to not only get other people to believe the bunk, but to then ignore or destroy that which does not agree with their mythology.

Most of the worlds conflict comes about when people argue over who's mythical god is more real. Perhaps if people would simply focus more on asking questions and FINDING answers (instead of accepting an answer and sticking to regardless of contradictory evidence) then your wish that mankind would have peace could be fulfilled.

When people come at me with declarations that their god wants a certain group of people dead, then I simply ask them why s/he simply not kill them him/herself? Or why create them in the first place?

And yet the source of your belief comes from a book that chronicles the genocide of thousands of people at the behest of the Christian god. You agree with me when I ponder the question of a creator that would destroy his own creations on the grounds of petty emotions such as jealousy, anger, or petulance.

You simply cannot escape the fact that the god you claim belief in was created by man and that in your desire to believe in a higher power you have deluded yourself into ignoring the glaring facts that outline his mythology.

You can cherry pick which parts you like and which parts make up a god you are comfortable with all you like, but the fact remains that you are just doing the same t...

I've explained this to you before, Oort; you seem to have selective memory — anything that doesn't agree with your point-of-view is forgotten. The Old Testament is a chronicle of the Israeli people trying to learn about the One God, and in most cases, failing miserably, because their only source of spiritual matters was their old religions, which were full of vengeful, fearsome gods that demanded blood and conquest. They didn't get it until Jesus came to set them right, and even then, most didn't clue in. So yes, there are horrible things in the bible, but they aren't the works of God.

You're a fine one to talk about cherrypicking, when that's exactly what you're doing, without even botheri...

without even bothering to try to understand just what the bible is actually saying
Ironic that you would say this when I AM pointing out what the bible is saying and you cling to only the parts that interest you.

Perhaps you should look up the definition of cherry picking? I'm starting to think it doesn't mean what you think it does.

You have a preconceived notion about the bible
That would be true had I developed an idea without looking at the source, but I am quite aware of what the bible says. To say "preconceived" reveals that you are just making any accusation that comes to mind.

They didn't get it until Jesus came to set them right, and even th...

I point out the relevant parts of the bible, and you mock. How is anyone to not believe that you have preconceived notions that you aren't willing to change in the least?

Unlike you, I keep my mind open. The dynamics of my faith change daily, and I'm willing to consider evidence that I don't already have knowledge or experience that counteract it as part of my faith. You, however, are unwilling to consider anything but your own views. That's egotism.

More and more, you are proving yourself to be a Atheist Extremist, convinced that your way is the only way, and everyone else is dead wrong. I freely admit that there might be other ways to salvation that I don't know about. But unlike you, I ...

Look dark, you've been exposed when YOU claim I have preconceived notions and cherry pick and then immediately explain that you only listen to parts of the bible because other parts aren't true. Please don't embarrass yourself by claiming you have an open mind.

Trying to defend any portion of the bible when you openly admit that the bible itself is flawed, admit that the best historical evidence you have is an obscure name, and admit that you are so insecure about your beliefs that you try and redefine non belief as belief only shows us all how compartmentalize your mind in order to maintain your belief.

Your ENTIRE belief system is based on the bible, which even you admit is flawed and ...

The evidence stands against you, Oort. You're a religious extremist who has closed his mind to anything but his own beliefs.

The parts of the bible I believe in do have proof; proof that you cannot dispute because I have experienced it personally.

Return to your religious rantings, Oort, and I'll enjoy the hypocrisy you tout with your dogmatic ravings.

See. This is why we have so much trouble. You seem to lack an education. What you are talking about is a subjective experience. That is not proof. Proof is evidence that is sufficient enough to establish that something is true.

Show us the proof.

Again, the one trying to use subjective personal experiences as a basis of proving their claims is the one bandying around the word "ranting".

You're still an idiot.

I'm highly educated, and I've told you in the past how to find the proof, but you are completely unwilling to try, so what is the point?

You're still a ranting extremist, dedicated to trying to convince others that their way is wrong and your way is right. That makes you an Evangelist, Rev. Oortcloud.

And you're still puerile and childish for calling people names and trying to project your failings onto others.

It's funny watching dark scramble so frantically to disenfranchise what I'm saying by painting me with what he is. Even he knows how pathetic his religion is since he tries to use it as a means of argument.

Who's scrambling? You're doing it to yourself. No one here can say that I'm trying to proselytize because I've stated clearly that it doesn't matter whether you believe me or not. You, however, Rev. Oortcloud, are trying to sell your atheist religion hard and fast. I have no religion. I have no dogma or ceremonies, no churches, no baptisms; nothing that defines a religion. I just have a personal relationship with God.

You, however, are very clearly an evangelist; hammering away at anyone who dares to disagree with you, demanding that they believe what you do, and ridiculing them if they don't. That's classic religious behaviour.

The sad thing is that you don't even realize that you're doing it, Pastor Oort.
