Just try it! A few days ago (I also did it last year too -- I learned about it in an investing seminar), I called the customer service number on the back of my credit card.

I asked them who to talk to about lowering the interest rate on my credit card. The woman who took the call (both times) said "I can do that, just let me check a few things". She verified my address and my name!

Then she lowered it from 17.6% to 5.9%! (That's about the same as my mortgage!)

The whole thing took less than 1 minute! I shit you not!

But she said it only lasts for a year and then goes back up to the original rate. At which tim...

But she'll also tell you that it only applies to everything you buy starting now; it does not apply retroactively to purchases already made.

Nevertheless... do it! It works.

PS: Last year I had them increase my limit too. I asked for 40K, they gave me 25K! It was 7K at the time. All I'm saying is... call and ask. It's a toll free number.
