masbury says:
Time for the religious and humanist communities to insist that reform itself is not enough: we want the plan that gives "care" priority over "profits" and over "what will fly in D.C." (simply code words for “what those congressional reps who are dependent on the contributions of the health care industry are willing to allow to get through their committees.”)

Will Obama's new system cover back injuries sustained while bowing to him? And do you think he would send me a list of diseases that medical marijuana treats?

I need to catch one of them before my trial.

A prophetic voice?

How about a rational voice? Intelligent voice? Sober voice? Thoughtful voice? Logical voice? Reasonable voice? A voice that speaks for the majority? A voice that speaks about the realities? A voice that recognizes accurately that the US has the best health-care system by far? A voice that recognizes the medical professionals in America are the best in the world? A voice that wants to shore up the failings in the insurance industry? How about a voice that understands the Medical Industry?

Is that too much to ask?

No? We need a "prophetic voice"?
What does that even mean?

There's nothing wrong with directing religious passion to a good cause for a change. It can't hurt to get the Religious Right into Obama's camp for this issue; after all, it's the Christian thing to do.

Let there be Passion, backed by Logic and Reason.

Means what it has always meant: a voice that calls people away from evil and toward good. In this case, away from neglect of the poor and toward being a society that cares for all its people.

This nation not only cares for it's own. It cares more and does more for the people of the world than all other nations combined. The only evil I see is the evil that ignores that fact and lies in the process. A prophetic voice cannot both lie and call people away from evil toward good. Good calls, Evil compels. Good appeals to a higher calling and best qualities, Evil appeals to division and our worst resentments.

We've had a go-around on a couple of issues. I have found you to be an interesting sort of fellow. The best I can tell is that you are not a very informed person and you love to spark division along fine political lines. It is very unsettling and something I am not quite used to. I must admit.

It's true that the USA gives more as a single entity to world needs than does any other government, but many governments pass it up on a per capita basis.

As far as caring for its own, 18,000 Americans die prematurely every year from the absence of regular treatment of illness that they would have had with health insurance. No other developed country allows this to happen. No other developed country allows its people to suffer bankruptcy over medical expenses.

I dream of a day when those 18,000 have an equal right to life with the rest of us.

HAHAHAHA!! Kenstipe, that's the funniest thing I've heard all day? America taking care of its own? What a joke! Do you remember New Orleans? Was that America taking care of its own?

Kenstipe, you are clearly both deluded, and ignorant, and worse, you have shown no tendency to learn from true knowledge and facts, resorting to emotion and jingoism instead.

But I don't blame you. Many, many Americans are ignorant of their true situation, believing that they actually have better rights and freedoms than other countries in the world. In a critical comparison, the US is actually one of several nations within the Western world that have the least rights and freedoms, especially since the Patriot...
