Everytime they "fix" something, a couple years later we find the fix screws us, the average Americans, even harder. Recent examples:

The Medicare Prescription Drug Act for our seniors. My dad's only income is social security. He made $15,800 in 2008. His medications and doctors visits cost him OUT OF POCKET over $5000 last year. Before Congress "helped" his out of pocket was less than $1000. Additional benefit, the year it went into effect the pharmaceuticals made record profits AND offsho...

The 2005 Bankruptcy Act and assorted financial/credit bills. Supposed to stop the abuse of bankruptcy. Result? Our minimum payments doubled, the credit companies TRIPLED peoples rates, even if they were good/excellent payers. Additional result? Our debt swelled, ALL our expendable income was going for food, healthcare, gas and CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS. With 30% interest rates, us smart ones have quit using and started paying off.

The newest consumer protection act concerning lead in children's toys and clothes act. This hits us Feb. 10. Charity organizations, consignment shops, Ebay even garage sales are now supposed to test all products for children under 12 for lead. Clothes, dishes, toys, blankets. If it is sold for kids, it must be tested for lead. My guess is that this is going to bankrupt many charities (right when we need them the most), close kids consignments, increase waste and benefit China. Who will lie about the contents anyway.

We need LESS laws, not more. Grow up people, use common sense, protect yourself and quit asking our incompetent, corrupt, out of touch government to do it for us.

Sorry so long, this is my biggest pet peeve.
