This recourse has led to thousands of stock watering points that has also enabled kangaroos and feral pests ,and two legged ones like PETA that don't understand land management & the need to cull & control numbers to have a sustainable environment. The Great Artesian Basin is mainly tapped by windmills and in the few areas where it does come to the surface on it,s own accord, the Queensland Govt is getting user,s to cap them so as not to waste the recourse. The water is highly saline & drilling has to go deeper to another aquifer to test for heavy metals and stock suitability.Simplistic but misleading to think that we on the driest continent don't know the complexities of water management.
