Thanks for the great info!! As soon as I can get some regular popping corn I am going to try this!!

I have a bowl with a ventilated lid. There's a hollow in the base; I fill the hollow with popcorn, add enough oil to coat the kernels, then pop. No measuring needed, and I've had the bowl for twenty years, so it's more than paid for itself.
