The expansion in east Jerusalem and of settlements has been continuing during the last ten years' of 'discouragements' from many nations involved with the ongoing peace negotiations. Some politicians and 'world leaders' have condemned the expansion, others have been more 'diplomatic'. Obama has moved ever so slightly from the latter to the former position.
