Why on Earth are these people in chains? It doesn't seem like a voluntary miracle-seek to me. The real miracle is treatment they are either denying themselves or that they are being denied.

To prevent them from escaping it says. Escaping from what? If they aren't cured, will they then be stoned or something??

"Offered" by the church it says. Seems more like it's being forced to me, since they're dragged there in chains.
