BigBadWolf says: This can't be good... In China? I wouldn't have expected the first conviction to originate there. The article isn't clear; was this a Chinese initiative or were the prodded into this by the MPAA? Three words for you all: Cyveilance, Mediasentry and Safenet. Those are just a few of the ones out there tracking you. Even here. Some are endorsed by the CIA and NSA. Cyveilance is more about stopping credit card fraud, phishing, etc. You might want to read up on Cyveilance, they are not who you think they are. Also, here's a recent bust that used them to nail Ares client users, using Cyveilance. There are many others, all competing for dollars from the MPAA and RIAA. Ok... guess I was a little behind in their purpose but thanks for filling me in. Time to block some IPs from the sites I work on. Got nothing to hide but I'll be damned if this kinda crap is allowed. There are many IPs they use let me know if you want the ones I have collected thus far. Most come right from Alexandria, Virginia. Close to Langley (hint, hint wink, wink, nudge, nudge) I told my housemate about this. He's a big torrenter. Would the app Peer Guardian be enough do you think Napster, to be cover those different IP's? Sorry...remove the second "be" You can use Peer Guardian if you want, remember it's only as good as your IP tables. I would suggest you get V2.0 (or higher if out) as the earlier one was a CPU and resource hog (written in VB) The newer version is supposedly a C++ compilation and runs alot better. Thanks for the advice Napster. |
