disenchantedcitizen says: Disorderly conduct. The catch-all offense when a cop can’t legally arrest someone. What crime did this ‘lawbreaker’ really commit? Police say: interfering with police assisting someone to an ambulance, getting in the way of the fight, cursing at the officers. Besson said he did not curse at them until after they handcuffed him when he was telling them not to delete his photos. I don’t know if they were actually deleting any photos, the story doesn’t get into that aspect. But can we safely say they wouldn’t? And the two guys fighting? They were not arrested. Campus police are even worse than the municipal ones. usually because they are mostly recruited from the ranks of those who were rejected by real police departments or flinked out of the academies. They're either unfit to be city cops or they're resentful that they're just a notch above rent-a-cops. In either case it seems more and more they have the attitude that they 'must be obeyed without question' instead of taking a moment to critically examine a situation and exhibit some common sense. Too many times they interpret any objection to their orders as civil disobedience that must be squash with the extreme prejudice. This is macho 'might' taken way too far. |
