masbury says: McCain vehemently opposed this (Webb) bill, yet here's Bush thanking him for helping pass it! What is with these guys? McCain offered a skimpier version, insisting that paying college for Iraq vets would encourage them to leave the service when they could (better to offer them worse benefits so they'll stay, I guess, is the old soldier's plan). 32 Second video at link. Hypocrisy turned into praise...Geez, they both opposed this, now they speak with other fork of tongue...bastids. It's the Bush way: say it's true, and people eventually believe it. But man, it's corrupt! They were against it because it did not give more benfits for men and women who served longer. If you worked for 20 years at a company would you want someone who worked 2 years to get the same benefits as you. Of course not. They both opposed it and that is not why they said they opposed it. SS: Why they were against it is not the point - how can you be missing this? The point is that the President is praising McCain for its passage, when McCain did all he could to prevent its passage. The President is trying to credit McCain for passing a bill when they both stood in its way. That's the point - it is flatly dishonest. Can you really, truly not see that? Sillysam, again. Sam, doesn't it matter to you that the President of your nation lies? |
