debbyski says: It's amazing to me that 39 percent of private-sector workers do not receive paid sick leave. Me too. As a Gov't employee, the fact that I can accumulate sick days has actually left me less stressed and therefore less inclined to get ill and have to use them. Of course, this is being said while I'm home with the swine flu myself. Wicca: I'm a private sector employee and I get 3 weeks vacation plus 8 sick/personal days and in addition to that I can comp out my overtime. The problem is they need me a lot and I can't take them. I've only used one sick day this whole year, but I'm lucky because I rarely get sick. When I clipped this I thought how terrible it must be to go to work sick, not to mention the health care risks to the rest of the public. And then I thought I'd put in for the rest of my vacation before I lost it And in France, if I'm not mistaken, everybody has 5 weeks a year of paid vacation. Why do we put up with this abuse? Masbury, did you see this? You were mistaken Mas. It's 7 weeks of vacation not 5. |
