SVullie says: If you are as fed up as I am, visit http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ and contact the White House to register your displeasure with this commutation of jail time for hindering prosecution, perjury and outing an undercover American patriot. I'm not surprised and I've made the comment on CM many times in the past that Bush would pardon Libby. I do not support the death penalty. Howver prosecutors like Nifong and Fitzgerald would be first on my death row. When you destroy a persons name, you have in effect murdered him. Libby was wrong, regardless of the fact there was no crime to investigate. However, he has been punished enough for what is in effect an inconsequential and meaningless mis-statement. Punish enough? This guy is made for life! He protected his boss and by doing so he will be living the Republican gravy train for years to come. He didn't pay for his own defense! He got his sentence commuted for the simple reason that he kept his mouth shut and didn't squeal. What is this Goodfellas? From the mouth of the Hypocrite in Chief. Bush "wrote" in his autobiography, A Charge To Keep, "I don't believe my role is to replace the verdict of a jury with my own." He did not "replace" the verdict. He commuted the sentence. He did not erase the felony conviction or the fine. However, he should. Nifong and Fitzgerald should go before a firing squad. Why should Fitzgerald go in front of a firing squad? For daring question Dear Leader or his subordinates? Willhelm, look at what you've typed. Breaking U.S. law by disclosing the identity of an undercover CIA agent; by lying under oath; and by withholding pertinent information in a federal investigation doesn't merit jail time but Fitzgerald doing his job to find the truth and hold law-breakers accountable should be executed by firing squad? And what the f*#k does Nifong have to do with this? What's keeping you from tossing in Hitler, Attila the Hun and Mao while you're at the irrelevant-infamous-persons-to-bolster-my-weak-as-arguments gambit? I think Willhelm prefers it when his government lies to him for what they deem is his own good. Thank goodness the pilgrims left a regime led by one dictator who felt the same way. Now, we need to wait out this current "Decider In Chief" so we can steer this Democracy back on course. Willhelm's comment is funny when you realize that where I took the quote from was talking about commuting people's sentences. It's the same thing. W replaced the effect of the sentence with his own judgment. But when you grow up never having to be responsible for your own actions what would you expect of W. Oh brother. Are any of us surprised by this commuting of sentence? I've spent inumerable hours contacting senators and representatives. If THIS is not the last straw proving grounds for impeachment....what on earth IS? I know we "don't have time to impeach." Is that ANY reason not to at least BEGIN procedures? The world is watching us. It is SHAMEFUL that what they are seeing is us doing NOTHING to stop this out of control administration and their perversion of justice. We have ALLOWED Bush to act as though he is above the law. We continue to allow this administration to act as thought they are above the law. We (America and her Congress), have no one left to blame but ourselves. ... |
