If confirmed, the reports could lead to an Israeli air strike on the embassy, possibly leading to a widening of the conflict,
Very, very bad.

"If confirmed, the reports could lead to an Israeli air strike on the embassy, possibly leading to a widening of the conflict,"

i don't take sides here...but i wouldn't doubt the Israeli's impulsive bombing here...which would be very bad...yes.

Israeli's impulsive bombing ?

"Hey! Let's go bomb something"!

"Yeah, cool! Anything in mind?"

"Nah, whatever."

Yeah, that's it. Just bomging on impulse. Right. Good grief.

I don't think Israel would do that. Then again I wouldn't think Israel would bomb the homes and infrastructure of Lebanese that didn't like Hezbollah, but they did. So I can't predict this one.

When did this concept of the possibility of unmessy war gain such mistaken credibility? Was it when Israel decided to fight back? That's when I noticed it big time.

An unmessy war? Maybe with so called "precision guided" bombs that always seem to lack precision unless they are being promoted by those who want to bomb population centers. But the bombing of the factories and schools and highways and shops and... These were people that disliked Hezbollah! Why bomb them? Why turn the budding civil Lebanon into a chaotic hell? That only feeds Hezbollah? Why? I haven’t a clue.

Well you have to buy all that at face value to arrive at the confusion that doing so then understandably produces. My position is that I don't know the answer, but given the actions of Israeli military that we can look at in its history, illogical, uncontrolled, senseless and purposeless behaviour is not something one can logically project and suppose regarding the current unknowns in real time, as such haven't been the case to this point.

Let me first say that the survival of Israel is, I think, vital. And that Israel has a right to defend itself. But, though no terrorist organization, the Israeli Army has been complicit in atrocities before.

The "face value" comes from reports on the ground. I'm sure they are not unbiased but none-the-less these are reports from people there. Also the turning of the tide of Jordanian opinion seems to indicate that the Israelis have multiplied their problems.
