merrie says: WH withdraws call for students to 'help' Obama President Obama's plan to inspire the nation's schoolchildren with a video address next week erupted into controversy Wednesday, forcing the White House to pull out its eraser and rewrite a government recommendation that teachers nationwide assign students a paper on how to "help the president." White House aides said the language was an honest misunderstanding in what was supposed to be a inspirational, pro-education message to America's youths. Among the activities the government initially suggested for prekindergarten to sixth-grade students: that they " write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president." Another task recommended for students immediately after listening to the speech: to engage in a discussion about what "the president wants us to do." http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/sep/02/wh-withdraws-call-students-help-obama/ The novel curriculum plan brought sharp criticism from conservatives, including some who complained that classrooms were being used to spread political propaganda.President Obama to address Congress President Barack Obama will address a joint session of Congress on health care reform in prime time on Wednesday, Sept. 9, a senior official tells POLITICO. including some who complained that classrooms were being used to spread political propaganda.Well, they can't count on the indoctrination happening at home. Too many right-wing terrorists have children, you know. Right, spreading political propaganda such as: stay in school, get an education, and you can be successful in life. Conservatives are using anything they can to depict Obama as an evil socialist, to the point they are coming off as ridiculous 'chicken little's'. They are the ones who are turning this into a political game. Obama is promoting his 'socialist' movement by encouraging everyone to commit to taking responsibility to civic organizations in an effort to help others in need. How dare he. Conservatives are using anything they can to depict Obama as an evil socialistOh, now, now. Obama is doing a fine job all by himself. We're all in favor of encouraging Americans to help others, take responsibility for themselves, staying in school, etc..... In fact Americans do a fairly good job of that through their local churches, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, fund raising through the United Way among others, and voluntarism. It's quite another thing when it seeks to indoctrinate our kids with their globalism, their brand of environmentalism, their idea of *working with others*, their constant harping about ending racism. But then, they've done a fairly good job of it with 50% of the grown-ups. Conservatives are using anything they can to depict Obama as an evil socialist Oh, now, now. Obama is doing a fine job all by himself.lolol......nothing like stating the obvious. Clear winner of the ' comment of the week' award Right, spreading political propaganda such as: stay in school, get an education, and you can be successful in life.and what can you do to help the president? and how does the president inspire you? Come on, even the administration knows it was over reaching. Did you see how quickly they yanked those 'lesson plans?' After all this president has said and proposed (forced volunteerism, snitch on your neighbor e-mail addresses, e-mail mining......) just speaking to the kids has to make one wonder. Combine that with the lesson plan and now the news that even the NEA is being used as a propaganda arm of the administration and you just have to ask the question, "What if Bush had done it?" Get a grip people. No US president is going to do something as insidious as brainwash children. And yes, n2, if Bush had attempted brainwashing children I would have been all over his case. But you see neither of these presidents would do that. Sure, there are people within the government who may be possibly getting off on the idea, right off hand I would point to Van Jones as an example, but the president? No way. I’ll admit he has some socialist-leaning viewpoints that I don’t agree with, and he is allowing some people with ideas that are way too far left for this country. And these are reasons why he will never succeed in turning this country to socialism (if that ever was his plan). T... (I guess I ran over my 2,000 character limit. Sorry about the interruption) It seriously grieves me to see the direction this country is headed in, and it isn’t only due to democrats nor is it only due to republicans. The people have lost true representation in our federal government. This in-fighting is not going to regain that sense of control. I am sick and tired of choosing between the lesser of two evils as our president. When are we going to get someone who tells it straight and begins working on putting this country back on track without worrying about his/her political future? I want to hear responses to this. Conservatives especially, but from liberals too. Something needs to be done. "I am sick and tired of choosing between the lesser of two evils as our president. When are we going to get someone who tells it straight and begins working on putting this country back on track without worrying about his/her political future?" On this, I could not agree with you more!!! Sure, there are people within the government who may be possibly getting off on the idea, right off hand I would point to Van Jones as an example, but the president? No way.If that is the case, then why is he surrounding himself with people such as Van Jones? After all, Van Jones isn't the only person in this administration with radical views. Remember, this business of bailing out corporations and the federal government buying stakes in those corporations started on Bush’s watch, so it isn’t all on Obama.Yes, Bush got the ball rolling, but Obama was right there with him encouraging him to do even more. Falling back on blaming Bush does no good. The man isn... N2, you miss my point, what Im saying is that the entire scope of the federal government, no mater who is president is responsible, not just democrats or republicans, I am blaming those behind the scene, not necessarily the president, although neither Bush nor Obama are blameless. And the list goes back further. Remember illegal wiretapping? Republicans resorted to this breech against our trust and democrats allowed it to happen. Do you see the general picture I am trying to paint here? Pointing fingers to blame any one person does no good. We need to fight against what the government is doing to us, not against each other. You really think Sarah Palin was someone who tells it straight an... You really think Sarah Palin was someone who tells it straight and will put us on the right track without worrying about her political future? You have a lot more faith in her than I do, my friend.I'm pointing out how she was treated. Her family was maligned, rape jokes told about her young daughter, and she has had to defend herself from frivolous lawsuit after frivolous lawsuit. Why would anyone willingly submit themselves to that knowing now that this is how low politics has fallen in our country? Okay, I understand now. Thanks for clearing that up. It is amazing to me how anyone would want to subject themselves to that kind of microscope and abuse to ‘win’ a job that will only bring more of the same. That's the propaganda that MessNBC is using. Criticizing people for objecting to a message of "stay in school, study hard, etc." As if that were the objection. They will not see the objection because all that the level head recognizes as creepy, they see as their agenda. Lately I've listened to some old-time-radio SciFi where they imagined future societal control and creepiness and it truly was ominous. We have today, half of this country who have had their "vision" propagandized and are ready to accept much of what was ominous then, Some of which is already in play. Sure, there are people within the government who may be possiblyYou would have a harder time finding those who are not, if any. Disenchanted, you are being a bit naive. Look at where Obama came from. Look at who he associates with. Look at those who he has surrounded himself with. Try to understand the components of his Gramsci-ism and Alinsky-ism that drive his beliefs. Educate yourself on the panorama of insane radicalism throughout his administration. How can you say that Obama devising a lesson plan to encourage student to help him in his political goals is anything but an affront to lib... |
