Mahmood will tell you, with a smile on his face, that this doesn't happen in Iran.

Surely, although a horrific punishment, the manner of death is irrelevant. The real inhumanity is that capital punishment exists in the first place; as it does not just in Iran and other nations, but in some US states also.

They take a woman. They bury her up to her shoulders. They get stones...Not stones that are too small because they will not do enough damage and they cannot be too big because they will kill TOO QUICKLY. They lob and bomabard while yelling accusations and names. The stoning can last quite a long time.

Irrelevant? I think inhumane is more like it. And even though I am not a supporter of the death penalty, I do not find anything inhumane about the way it is carried out in the US.

Wilhelm, perhaps I’ve not explained myself correctly.

Stoning is a barbaric and disgusting form of torture leading to
inevitable death and should be condemned for what it is: an abomination.
However, if you're not a supporter of the death penalty how can you find nothing inhumane about the way it's carried out by whatever means in the US?
So, the electric chair, gas chamber and firing squad have largely disappeared, as has hanging, but how comfortable are you with death by lethal injection?

The following is a brief description of an ancient form of execution in England for treason and other serious crimes.

The condemned man would usually be sentenced to the short drop method of hanging ...

Mickfinn, I do not support the death penalty on the grounds of systemic abuse, fraud, and the potential for human error. On the concept of the death penalty in a "perfect" system I woul be very much in favor. So the idea of it being "inhumane" is not really part of the equation for me as it applies to the methods used in the US.

I hope that answers your question.

Also, mickfinn, thank you for following up this comment
the manner of death is irrelevant.
With another comment that clearly shows the manner not to be so irrelevant. That shows intellectual honesty. Kudos.
