cptenaud says: Sanchez continues, There is nothing going on today in Washington that would give us hope. Our commanders on the ground will continue to make progress and provide time for the development of a grand strategy. That will be wasted effort as we have seen repeatedly since 2003. In the meantime, our soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines will continue to die. Military leaders, one after another are condemning this adminstration and war. Yet the ego-maniacal war criminal in the White House continues to send Americans to their death for no other reason than to enrich his war profiteer buddies. I know I am preaching to the choir here ,but you always know when an American military leader judges the Bush administration's war strategy flawed, they are the ones who retire or resign. The weird thing is that the Bush administration usually gets them to make a public fool of themselves supporting the Bush policies before they do. Maybe that is their tipping point. IDK I figure General Casey is next. It is very sad! I guess you never were in the military. So I will explain how things work. If you are a regular soldier with rank and no officer affiliation. You only have the right to obey. If you speak out like that soldier who questioned Rumfield did. Your life will be in danger. Your rank will be in jeopardy. And you will have a bad time as long as you are in that unit. And if you go to another unit. What you did will be told to the officer in charge of that unit. In other words, you just might want to seek an early out. Now if your an officer. You want to keep your rank. And hopefully add to it. High enough rank keeps you in the safe zone as far as war zone that is. That is why Generals are called arm... Some pretty harsh words from this top General. How soon before gets shot down in the media, especially Fox? Here's the NYT Link. Yes it is obvious that General Ricardo Sanchez is not the poster boy for the moral high ground. But neither is Tenet, Collen Powell , and many more rats deserting a sinking ship. I believe the stories of this regime will be poring out from everywhere. cptenaud: I do know these things about the military. This hasn't change over the millenia. I am sorry you didn't think I was agreeing with you. It's OK. neochonetes; I know you were agreeing with me. I meant this to those who didn't know how the military works. After rereading I see how it sounded like I was attacking you. In some ways I feel I have to attack certain people just to wake them up. Fortunately those people are getting less busy here. Like Ann Coulter. They are fading with the lies. Have you seen the article - How the Military Can Stop an Iran Attack? I hope we can support the military - in them not obeying orders if it comes to attack Iran. I love our form of government and wished more people would use it. Secrets of the Matrix (video) by David Icke helps understand the chain of command. He has a pyramid of knowledge I think he calls it, to show how so much evil can get done by so few amid so many good people. cptenaud comment helps me understand that even more. This kind of "outcoming" seems to be happening all the time now, i find it really very sad that these people did not have the courage to speak out earlier and in many cases did not do so to protect their own interests. Had they done so things may not have been quite so dire as they clearly are now. I know it would seem to be a good thing if our military leaders speak out, publicly, against what seems wrong while they are still in the military. They can't do that. There would be MAJOR NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES that would filter through our democracy with the potential to destroy it. The most extreme example that comes to mind is a military coup. We don't have those just because of this important idea of "falling on your sword"(resigning) before you break the chain of command. That is why we, each of us, must take up their burden, so honorable and objective leaders can stay in our military. Support those retired officers who are speaking out. Write editorials and contact your congress... What is leading to "major negative consequences" is the perception that none of the present Administration, or the military leaders can ever be trusted to honest and truthful. Most in developed nations are mature intelligent people who can handle the bad side of situations like Iraq without having people try and hoodwink them on a daily basis. I for one would be rather upset if a family member was killed in Iraq as a result of deceitful rhetoric in this desire to perpetuate the idea that things are going better than they really are, merely for political purposes. When you apply the same problem to the International scene then it becomes clearly obvious how dangerous it can be , usually ... Well said Michaelll !! Shocking! Absolutely shocking! I have never heard nor did I ever expect to hear such scathing, such intense criticism by a general to a president! Bush and Cheney should get impeached. They should then get tarred and feathered and dragged out of town. Put on a plane and sent to a secret prison in Pakistan. The next thing we should hear about them is their obituary. Why this doesn't happen? Well...unfortunately truth and justice are often overrun by bulldozers. I guess there are lots of bulldozers backing up this evil administration, lots of: "lawyers, guns and money," as well as the power of their elected office. Too bad. I think we should kick as many of these warmongers out of their j... (video) by David Icke helps understand the chain of command. He has a pyramid ofa pyramid of SOMETHING,....I won't guess. But seriously, man,,please argue your stand, but you DO know, don't you, that Icke BELIEVES that the "illuminati" or the ruling families behind the scenes, however you want to describe them (which exists, to some degree--money talks) but HE BELIEVES THEY TRULY HAVE SCALES AND SHAPE-SHIFT. I am NOT KIDDING YOU.! In the sense of fair play Fortunately those people are getting less busy here. Why is that fortunate, fascist? Do you hear yourself? And pretty soon the 'ganging-up', intimidation style against a few braver ones around here who dare confront some of the more thoughtless, defeatist, biased, and hateful leftists will be giving up. I mean after all, when there is a group think attitude meant to silence dissent, demean those who disagree with the "gang" to the point of attacking even the more innocent ones for being religious, for BEING Jewish or Christian, or for being anything the "gang" is not, surely it is reasonable that intelligent people realize they have more productive ways to spend their time. Wh... I know it would seem to be a good thing if our military leaders speak out, publicly,.....etc.That's a well thought out thing, neo. Food for thought. That's helpful. --- Also I am pretty disagreeable as to how they have run this damn thing from the day they took Baghdad. No thought as to psychological maneuvering or the options possible ....of ANYTHING, including ways to extricate us from the whole damn thing without bowing to anyone when things got bad. Most of all, to try this whole thing with such weak individuals as our figureheads, representatives, and communicators. Yep, well said Neo. I'm reminded of a military phrase along the lines..."we're here to support democracy, not enact it". I can see some necessity of unity and assurance of execution of orders. But at the same time it's obviously folly for the administration if it doesn't give them "permission to speak freely" and solicit their advice. I would give a response to the one troll we have here. But I don't think any of us want a three page Blather report. Right. Enter the leftist-only website terminology, fascist. "troll" what you use when you have no other option but personal attacks. Here's one you freaking piece of crap. Who else do you want to intimidate and silence, punk? You'll have to get them to BAN me, M.F. cause I won''t go quietly, bitch! I don't think any of usThere you go, thinking for your gang, you small minded fascist punk. With your proclamation that dissent has faded, you bastard, you ain't seen nothin'yet, freak. cptenaud=ineptitude,..... You'll notice, the biggest disagreement is to you, fascist. Not the clip. You went off your meds again davboy? Please take them. It will make life clearer for you. Life is clear for me pal. I don't need or take meds. Oh so comfortable and snide are you in your little gang of mutual reinforcers. You only have denigration and infantile retorts in your ammo-sack.. If you were an adult, you would take responsibility for your comments and intentions regarding silencing the ones who don't conform to you. And the un-evolved perception that any variance with your views puts that person in absolute opposition totally explains your behavior. And you play the "meds" card because I'm the only one that is not too much of a coward to stand up to your B.S. The others who would defend against your efforts to "gang rule" are just too meek and scared. I'm not! So defend your fascist mentality. Regarding Sanchez: It has been obvious there has been an absence of somebody who knows what they're doing. I don't think so many people deny the incompetence of the handling of the whole thing, as much as despise the style with which the media and the left have really done damage to every aspect just out of selfish insistence that they be right and everyone else wrong. SANCHEZ had a LOT to say about the reporters, the press, and, it would follow, all the sites that take THAT overblown info and mix it with hate, denigration, and distortion. You know the ones. http://www.plnewsforum.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/24730 http://www.soldiersperspective.us/2007/10/12/gen-sanchez-rips-mass-media-as... you have no other option but personal attacks. fascist, you freaking piece of crap, punk, bitch, freakIsn't that the pot calling the kettle black?? If you were an adult, you would take responsibility for your comments and intentions regarding silencing the ones who don't conform to you.Indeed! The others who would defend against your efforts to "gang rule" are just too meek and scared. No, I think actually they are just biting their tongues and choking on their words, because even they realise, that their Emperor really is NOT wearing any clothes...no matter how much they wish it were so. They are waking up to the fact, that... Hi cptenaud, sorry to take so long to respond but i was busy with the sensible comments on this site. It was really sad to see such comments as yours, it does nothing except tarnish the good reputation of the USA, and around the world, at the moment, enough damage has already been done to that reputation by G W Bush and his administration. If you have have any genuine comments about what i set in with regard to the clip, then by all means feel free to set it in for all to see. In your comment you wrote " I don't think any of us want a blah, blah, blah" . Any of us ??? i would be interested to know how you bcame spokesperson for others on this site. Oh, and by the way, I am Eng... michaelll; I am an x Marine from Vietnam. 1967-1968. I fought for this country then. And I am fighting against the wrong that is happening now. If you don't like that. Then go back to your own country. It seems to be heading in the same direction as ours. The only difference is they are pulling out of the war. Even England knows we are headed for a fall. Only those who fought in a war no how ugly and foolish it is. It is the coward that makes excuses while sitting in their easy chairs. Waving their flags and cheering on the poor who fight and die. That support such stupidity. Did you not know that fighting is the last resort of the ignorant. Only in this case it was the first resort. And t... Hey cptenaud, if you read my comment to you again you will amazingly discover that it had ABSOLUTELY nothing to to with trying to shut you up , or anything to do with the clip regarding sanchez, it was entirely devoted to your derogatory Troll remark. And for your further information i spent a whole 24 years in the military, maybe that makes me more or a real soldier as you put than you ever were, i was involved in active combat, including, during the first gulf war where we fought alongside American troops I was really mystified as to the driving force behind the comment you made considering that i am in more or less the same camp as you and agree entirely with your opening comments on the clip. oops ! disregard my last paragraph, you were quoting sanchez and not commenting. |
