peat is also called turf ,it comes from a bog which is a large area like a few fields of decomposed plants etc.
Its common in Ireland where we have peat briquettes for fires, it's also common in other rural areas of europe
Its usually cut with wellys on and clothes.There also is a sport called bog snorkelling which takes part in small bits of the bog full of water.
